Mark,

We've all had fun watching you agonize about every World Cup event. Thanks for reminding us about the things that are truly important in life -- soccer, the great uniter of nations.

Gwin, thank you for sharing this personal note; it is so touching and true. Thank goodness for nice guys, and you're included in that group Bob Threlkeld. Wishing you strength as you make your way through without Don. What a loss!

Damn, very nice website. I actually came across this on Ask Jeeves, and I am really happy I did. I will definately be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the post and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment.

Thank You

You hit the nail on the head! All too often a company's knee-jerk reaction is to try to cover up something like this, when the only logical reaction is to take it on the chin and admit that you screwed up...and then FIX the problem and recoup as much of your reputation as you can. Then, you work very hard to see that it does not happen again! Any time you give the media an excuse to go on a witch hunt, they will blow the event way out of proportion and it will be 10 times worse than if you made the announcement yourself.

Some other great paid tools are Biz360 (disclosure: I work for Biz360) and ScoutLabs. Like Filtrbox and Radian6 that you mentioned above, they offer a comprehensive sweep of the social web (at Biz360 we monitor blogs, microblogs, forums / discussion boards and online news), as well as sentiment measurement. If you are looking for a new tool to add to your arsenal, feel free to reach out!
