Stinky in the house is a phrase my 2-year-old daughter uses when she goes…well…you know. In order to avoid some weird things happening with our blog’s SEO, I’ll refrain from using one of the many colorful terms for that.

But in addition to that, stinky in the house is a fairly accurate way to describe many marketing and PR firm websites. I recently wrote an article titled “Your Website Smells Funny” for Bulldog Reporter that discussed this very topic. A quick synopsis:

  • Social media is the current craze in PR land, but many PR firms are not ready to go there because their own websites aren’t up-to-speed.
  • It’s VERY important to keep your site’s content current and to implement at least a basic set of social media tools (e.g., blog, RSS, etc.).
  • Finding a great Web developer isn’t the daunting task it used to be; ask for referrals or even consider doing it yourself using Joomla!, Drupal or WordPress.
