Bernina®, the world’s largest privately-held manufacturer of state-of-the-art sewing and embroidery systems, sergers and embroidery software, recently began stitching together blog posts on the Bernina Blog. Bloggers Jo Leichte and Erika Mulvenna post about their favorite obsession — sewing!
Though the blog is just weeks old, it already seems to have developed quite a following, with readers posting comments on nearly every post. Take for example today’s post “Erika’s Top 3 Presser Feet.”

The post already has a number of comments just hours after it was posted. Self-described “avid quilter” the Wandering Quilter asks blogger Erika Mulvenna: “Erika, I love the #10C and the BSR foot too. I haven’t yet used my ruffler foot. I was curious if you had an opinion on which is easier to use, the ruffler foot for the sewing machine, or the ruffler foot for the sergers?”
Erika replies: “Great question! The Ruffler Attachment for the sewing machine works differently than the Gathering Foot for the serger …” and goes on to explain in detail. This spurs an ongoing conversation with a number of other avid sewers commenting on their “favorite feet.”
While this is all Greek to non-sewers like me, it shows that blogs — blogs that provide useful information and allow for dialogue — are a great way to deepen your conversation with customers and influencers.

Hi Erika,
I saw on your blog that the ruffler foot is one of your top three favorite feet for your Bernina. I bought one and used it once to make a sample and cannot figure out exactly what I am doing wrong. It worked fine. Now I cannot get it to feed the fabric to make the little pleats. Does that little wire on the side have to move the circular teeth part? It is not making contact at that point.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer to me.
