On the recommendation of Marketing Telluride Inc., Telluride Mountain Village Owners Association has selected the joint proposal of RRC Associates and Mtrip to provide an assessment of the Mountain Village guest experience, from day visitors to residents, and provide recommendations for supporting the Telluride brand, exceeding guest expectations, and competing with other similar destinations.
Four proposals were submitted in response to an RFP issued by MTI at TMVOA’s request in late February. At the June 2 TMVOA board meeting, all proposals were considered and TMVOA elected to follow MTI’s recommendation and select the Mtrip/RRC Associates proposal. Mtrip and RRC Associates are both long-time mountain travel industry research and strategic planning companies with extensive experience in the Mountain Village and Telluride areas.
“After our conversations with all of the vendors and reviewing their proposals, we were most confident in the joint Mtrip/RRC Associates proposal,” said MTI CEO Scott McQuade. “Both of these groups have extensive experience here and are intimately familiar with our resort. We know they will hit the ground running.”
Mtrip/RRC will conduct a comprehensive study to analyze and understand where Mountain Village and Telluride have been successful in the past and where improvements in the guest experience are necessary. Then, along with community stakeholders, the group will set new goals and recommend best practices going forward.
“They’ll be looking at the guest experience not just from the point of view of a first-time visitor – enamored with the town, but of all visitors, including part-time and full-time residents, overnight and return guests.” McQuade said. “Factors like travel and transportation resources, guest services, restaurants, attractions and festivals will be examined.”
The Mountain Travel Research Program is the research division of Advisory Group, Inc., a destination mountain travel marketing services company established in 1981, which also operates the Mountain Travel Symposium, Mountain Travel Network, and Central Reservations Association. MTRiP currently provides designation guest reservation activity research to the Telluride community through a contract with MTI. They operates monthly “snap reports” measuring shopping, booking, and reservation transaction activity through both TelSki, and MTI’s call centers and recently completed the transient bed-based inventory of the Telluride area, through a contract with MTI.
RRC Associates handled the Mountain Village Community Survey, a recently completed survey of Mountain Village homeowners that addressed issues of the functions of town government as well as Telluride Tourism Board Visitor Research, which is an ongoing survey-based research program profiling visitors to the Telluride area in both winter and summer in terms of trip characteristics, visitor demographics, satisfaction with the experience, and other key information.
“This supports TMVOA’s mission to ensure that everyone who visits our resort has a positive experience,” said Mike Wisniewski, TMVOA board president. “We think this group will provide us with the tools we need to make this happen.”
