Darby C. Doll Senior Counselor Director of Emerging Media
Darby has more than 12 years of experience in public relations, marketing and journalism, as well as expert knowledge in global business, emerging media and online communications. He joined JohnstonWells Public Relations in 2004. Currently, Darcy leads the firm’s Emerging Media division, which helps clients seize opportunities created by technology-driven communications. In this role he has assisted numerous clients to develop and implement strategic online communications programs that employ video, social networking, blogging and blogger outreach. Darby is a member of JohnstonWells’ executive management team and oversees the firm’s media training practice. He currently directs public relations programs for Denver’s Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) and national software testing leader SysTest Labs and has led and supported numerous other client programs in government, consumer and technology sectors. He has valuable experience in managing issues and crises for a variety of companies, government agencies and health care institutions. Prior to JohnstonWells, Darby worked in the Asia Pacific region for 11 years. As a marketing consultant, he helped establish the Taiwan office of Hong Kong-based Upstream Asia Media & Marketing. At Upstream Asia, he developed local and regional marketing communications campaigns for leading international technology and consumer clients, including eBay, EDS, MSN and Sony. Darby also worked as a correspondent for online news site Gorilla Asia, where he covered Internet and technology issues, and as an editor at Taiwan News, a national English newspaper, in addition to contributing articles to a variety of publications in Asia. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. In 2007 Darby graduated from the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Leadership Program, which helped the City of Denver develop Greenprint Biz, a program for engaging the business community in the city’s nationally recognized sustainability effort. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in American history from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
