Gwinavere “GG” Johnston
President and Chief Operating Officer

At the root of GG Johnston's success as a public relations counselor and as president and COO of Denver-based JohnstonWells Public Relations are her abilities to understand people and their motivations. Responsible for managing the firm’s operations and overseeing client accounts, GG leads JohnstonWells with the same creativity, strategic counsel, planning and accountability that she provides clients. She also inspires a unique atmosphere of giving that extends to her clients, her company and her community.

With her extensive public relations background and her ability to think to the future, GG has been a driving force helping clients identify and attain their business objectives, whether via new product launches, brand introductions, consumer education initiatives, employee communication programs or community involvement campaigns. She has successfully led some of the firm’s largest accounts, including Qwest Communications and McStain Neighborhoods.

Active in the community, GG is a board member of Friends of Manual and founder and co-chair of the Jerry McCracken Scholarship Fund. She serves on the Public Relations Society of America Colorado Chapter board and Denver Health’s Level One board, and she chairs the newsletter committee for the Denver Metro Chamber Foundation’s Leadership Denver Alumni. GG is a former board member of Youth Biz Inc. and former board president of Denver CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

GG continues to cultivate her leadership capabilities and is a graduate of Leadership Denver, a 10-month program for leaders or emerging leaders focused on promoting informed and committed civic volunteerism. She also completed Influence of Denver, a leadership program for executive women, and Bringing Spirit to Leadership, a leadership program that focuses on creating a world that works for all through strong business and community leadership.

In 2003, The Denver Business Journal recognized GG as one of its “Forty Under 40” – an annual list of 40 outstanding Denver professionals under age 40 who have achieved business success and demonstrated a commitment to the community.
