Mad Greens Inspired Eats Named 2007 “Top Mover and Shaker”
Denver—Fast Casual Magazine, in its December/January edition, named Denver-based Mad Greens Inspired Eats a “Top 100 Mover and Shaker” for 2007.
Mad Greens, which opened its first restaurant in Centennial in 2004, was ranked 80 out of 100 fast casual companies in the magazine’s annual “Top 100 Movers and Shakers” feature. The national publication selects a combination of restaurants and professionals based on their influence in the fast-growing restaurant segment.
“The fast casual industry is currently a $70 billion a year market, so competition is stiff,” said Hodgson. “The recognition from Fast Casual validates our success in the market and highlights our potential for the future.”
Mad Greens is one of few fast casual salad concepts in the nation and has seen explosive growth since its beginnings in 2004. The company – led by owners Marley Hodgson and Dan Long – has opened five restaurants, four in the Denver area and one in Boulder. In November 2006 it expanded its concept to include a boutique wine and cheese bar at its Denver Art Museum location. The team foresees continued growth for the future. Three store openings are planned for the upcoming year in the Denver area and Hodgson and Long are exploring markets outside Colorado, including Las Vegas, southern California and Arizona. “Based on past performance and projections, we anticipate a 300 percent growth in revenue in 2007,” said Hodgson. Mad Greens was selected by a panel of seven people, three from the Fast Casual staff and four industry consultants. The fast casual restaurants and professionals are evaluated based on their sales performance, marketing programs, food quality, use of technology and inventive concept. The panel evaluates hundreds of restaurants, chooses the top 100, and then ranks them in accordance to their guidelines. Fast Casual magazine provides the industry with news, updates and the latest trends in the fast casual industry.
