Denver-based JohnstonWells Public Relations has acquired Accent Public Relations.

Accent PR is owned by Gina Seamans, APR, a former employee of JohnstonWells Public Relations from 1994 1998. This week, Seamans rejoins the 35-year-old firm, which represents clients throughout the Rocky Mountain region and nationally. The acquisition is the second within a year for JohnstonWells, which acquired Center Reach Communications in September 2006.

Seamans founded Accent PR in 1998 as an independent consultant and grew it into a full-service firm. The clients she brings to JohnstonWells include Bernina of America, Enstrom Candies, Laser Technology, SmartCare Family Medical Clinics and Sterling-Rice Group.

“Acquiring Accent Public Relations increases JohnstonWells’ consumer and health care expertise while adding more depth and talent to our senior professional team,” said JohnstonWells CEO Gwinavere Johnston. “Gina’s expertise in public relations and client service is well known to us. We witnessed it firsthand working with her at JohnstonWells, and her achievement of starting and growing a successful firm on her own has proved it over and over again.”

As a senior counselor at JohnstonWells, Seamans will continue to manage former Accent PR clients, as well as provide support for JohnstonWells’ client teams.

“I am proud to boomerang back to JohnstonWells and bring fresh experience to the same firm that gave me the sound skills for client service and strategic counseling,” Seamans said. “I know from experience that JohnstonWells’ capabilities will serve my clients well. In fact, the firm’s leadership team includes other senior ‘boomerang’ professionals with whom I worked in the ‘90s.”

Seamans is a 15-year member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). In 1994, she was named “PRSA Rookie of the Year.” From 1996 to 2002 and again beginning in 2005, she served on PRSA’s local Board of Directors. In 2002, Seamans was named to The Denver Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” list of local business leaders and in 2003 was a finalist for The Denver Business Journal’s “Outstanding Women in Business” award.

JohnstonWells, one of the largest public relations firms in the Rocky Mountain region, has earned a national reputation for industry leadership and excellence in its award-winning work on local and national accounts. Johnston and her daughter, GG Johnston, president and chief operating officer, manage the 24-member firm, which has a senior staff that averages 20 years of media and public relations experience.
