JohnstonWells Public Relations, one of Denver’s first public relations firms, is celebrating its 37th anniversary and has moved its offices to one of Lower Downtown’s most historic buildings, the Rocky Mountain Seed Company Building on 15th and Market streets. This is the first move in 20 years for the firm, previously located at 1512 Larimer in Writer Square.

“The Rocky Mountain Seed Building is a historic building with a rich past,” said CEO Gwinavere A. Johnston. “What better way for JohnstonWells to carry on its own special history than to relocate to the former headquarters of a family-run business with an 80-year legacy?”

JohnstonWells’ new home was built in 1894, and the Rocky Mountain Seed Company occupied the building from 1920 to 2007. Still a family-owned business, the Rocky Mountain Seed Company moved its headquarters in 2007 and sold the building to Denver developer and LoDo supporter Jerry Glick. Jones Lang LaSalle brokered the seven-year lease on behalf of JohnstonWells.

Johnston founded the public relations firm in 1971. Her daughter Gwinavere G Johnston, known as GG, is now president of the firm that employs a staff of 24. The senior Johnston managed the renovation of the 9,135-square-foot, two-story building. Interiors have been completely renovated and built out to accommodate the staff and Johnston’s award-winning folk art collection of more than 176 pieces.

Offices and work areas – including a small video production studio – fill the two stories, while the basement encompasses staff break areas and includes a meditation room and a large library. A rooftop patio is open for staff, client and community festivities. Exteriors have been renovated to reflect the building’s original façade.
