The 2008 Denver Business Journal Power Book recognized Gwin Johnston, CEO of JohnstonWells, as a top business maker in Colorado. “With 37 years so far at the helm of JohnstonWells, the public relations firm she founded in 1971, Gwin Johnston is planning a succession that eventually will turn the company over to her daughter, Gwinavere “GG” Johnston. But at the same time, she’s been busy guiding the agency in new directions. In September, JohnstonWells received four Gold Pick Awards and one silver in the Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s annual competition. In August, JohnstonWells was ranked as America’s fourth-best small PR agency to work for by the Homes Report, a PR news service. The agency recently decided to move from its Writer Square headquarters to the Rocky Mountain Seed Building at 15th and Larimer streets. Last year it acquired Accent Public Relations, an independent firm founded by former JohnstonWells employee Gina Seamans. Gwin Johnston is North American president of IPREX, a global partnership of independent public relations firms. A lover of folk art, Johnston has decorated the walls of her company with hundreds of art pieces. JohnstonWells has received the 2005 Creative Workspace Award from the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts.” |
