Gwinavere Johnston has been named president and CEO of JohnstonWells Public Relations, replacing Gwinavere Johnston.

No, it’s not a typo.  Gwinavere G (GG) Johnston will replace her mother, Gwinavere A. (Gwin) Johnston as head of Denver’s largest public relations firm, which was founded 37 years ago.

GG Johnston, who joined JohnstonWells 15 years ago, most recently served as president and COO of JohnstonWells. She does not plan any major changes at the firm, which has specialties in online communication, social media and traditional public relations programs.

“After 37 years of watching Gwin lead the firm and help shape the industry, I know I have some big shoes to fill,” said GG Johnston. “Public relations is entering a new frontier with consumer-generated media driving conversations like never before.  I couldn’t have picked a better time to take on this significant opportunity.”

Gwin Johnston will continue to be active in the company as owner and Chairman of the Board.

“From the perspective of the day-to-day business, GG has been managing JohnstonWells for quite some time and the company is in good hands,” said Gwin Johnston. “We have an exceptional staff that spans three generations of professionals who provide experience, as well as fresh perspective, particularly in terms of social media.”

Founded in 1971, JohnstonWells offers a full range of public relations and marketing services to local, regional and national clients representing a variety of practice areas. The firm’s Emerging West blog and its w00t! Emerging Media Showcase chronicle JohnstonWells’ recent successes.
