Preparing for Long-Term Crises

Did you know only four in 10 employees say they’d be able to work from home for one month if a crisis ever caused them to stay away from the office for such a span?

Employers need workplace plans and policies for dealing with long-term crises like a pandemic flu. In the event of such a crisis, businesses will play a key role in protecting employee health and safety, as well as limiting negative impact on our economy.

To this end, JohnstonWells’ founder and chair Gwinavere Johnston has authored a comprehensive crisis preparedness and planning template and submitted it to the IPREX partnership’s online Knowledge Center. The plan deals with everything from internal communications to maintaining financial security to implementing social media in an emergency.

The purpose of the plan is to empower each IPREX firm to develop a customized crisis plan, ensuring financial health, business continuity, client support and employee participation during an unexpected, long-term business interruption, and to provide a collaborative tool for anticipating, planning and preparing for any long-term crisis.
