On October 6, 2008, JohnstonWells opens for business at its new home, the historic Rocky Mountain Seed Co. building between Larimer and Market on 15th Street. Built in 1894, the Seed Co. building has been completely renovated with an interior design that showcases JW’s colorfully quirky 176-piece folk art collection.

For the past 87 years (and three generations of family ownership), the building served as the retail shop and warehouse for the Rocky Mountain Seed Company.

  • The Rocky Mountain Seed Co. becomes JW’s fifth downtown location in its 37 years of business:
  • JW’s first home in 1971 was in an office at The Children’s Hospital, the firm’s first client.
  • In 1972 the firm, then the Johnston Group, moved to the Central Bank Building at 15th and Arapahoe Streets.
  • In 1976, the Colorado Press Association Building – across the street from the Denver Athletic Club – became the firm’s home.
  • And in 1988, Gwinavere Johnston moved her firm into Writer Square – our home for the past 20 years.

The new building’s 9,561 square feet boasts street-level visibility, two floors of office space, a meditation room and a roof-top deck.
